Farmers Market Flummoxed

Looks like we spoke to soon. Kara Ceriello of the Wallingford Chamber of Commerce just sent this: the apparently highly contentious subject of moving the Wallingford FM out to Wford Ave is finito.  done.  zip, zero, no more.  it's dead, jim. the possibly highly contentious Community Mtg is still on, Tues 8/31 7pm, (doors open at 6) at Wallingford Comm Senior Center at Good Shepherd Center. we sure hope that the businesses will show up too to explain why they won't…

Wallingford Farmers Market Moving

Trust us when we tell you that we've spared you sturm und drang and bring you straight to the happy conclusion (for now). The Wallingford Farmers Market has known for some time now that its home in the parking lot south of Wallingford Center was temporary: a number of Wallingford Center businesses resented the loss of the parking spaces they were promised as part of their lease and, in any case, the area set aside for the market simply wasn't big…

Seattle Libraries Closed 8/30 thru 9/6

All Seattle library locations, including the Wallingford branch, will be closed August 30th through Labor Day, returning to regular schedules again on Tuesday 9/7. ISB co-founder Leroy Hood has announced that the Institute has outgrown its Wallingford home and is relocating to South Lake Union. A recent X-conomy Seattle article explains that the Institute had to move its administrative staff to another location last year to accommodate the growing number of scientists…

Grab It, It’s Free!

I saw this working VCR the other day put out on the curb with a free sign: Reminded me of all the things I've put out, and also picked up around the neighborhood.  What was the best thing you've ever put out or picked up? Right after we moved in we realized the coffee table didn't fit the living room and, being exhausted, left it out at the curb with a "Free" sign.  It was gone within 10 minutes.  The best…

Fall Fecal Fest

  • Post author:

It was awesome enough when they just called it "Zoo Doo". Now, with a name like "Fall Fecal Fest", how can we resist? Think chicken manure grows your tomatoes large? Try elephant manure! Twice yearly, the Woodland Park Zoo offers up the rich produce of its herd for the nourishment of your garden. Surprisingly, considering both what is on offer and what is producing it, demand far outstrips supply, so distribution is by lottery. Postcards can be submitted September 1 -…
