Salon Metro: Toiletries Drive

Shannon November 12, 2010 2 Comments

Tis the season of giving and Salon Metro needs our help!

Salon Metro (1714 N. 45th) is now collecting toiletries for the Orion Center and Youth Care Transitional Living Program.  Drop off  your donations at Salon Metro, Tuesday-Friday, 11am-7pm, Saturday-Sunday 9am-3pm.

Donation requests include unused/unopened shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, brushes, make-up, toothpaste, facial and body soaps, and etc.–full size or travel size.  These items will help support the teens and young adults who are trying to obtain jobs and continue their education.  By simply dropping off toiletries to Salon Metro you’ll be making a huge impact on supporting the homeless young people in our community.  If you have any unopened hotel toiletries–they are taking those as well.

When a foster child turns 18, they are often forced out into the streets. The Orion Center, located at 1828 Yale Avenue in downtown Seattle, is a multi-service facility open to youth ages 13-22. It offers a safe, open place where youth can access a multitude of services from meals to case management. The Orion Center’s services include the Drop-in Center with showers, lockers, laundry and meals, a pre-employment training program; the Barista Training and Education Program, and Youth Tech.

*Salon Metro’s donation hours may change–please call ahead of time to make sure the donation box is staffed for the day, or to make arrangements for your donation drop off. 206-545-6905.

I am curious if anyone knows where I can donate used shampoos/conditioners?

You can donate them to the Ballard Foodbank, as they are willing to repackage them.
