Coffee and other necessities (what’s open, what’s not)

Margaret Margaret December 23, 2010 10 Comments

It never fails in my house on Christmas Day — either I’ll need some random ingredient for dinner, or we’ll be out of “x” (dog food, milk, or heaven forbid–wine) and my poor husband will be sent out on a quest in the middle of the day.  So, to make my life (and hopefully yours) easier, here’s a list of stores and whatnot that will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, including the most important among life essentials:  coffee places.

QFC will be open on Christmas Eve until 6PM and they will be closed on Christmas Day.  The closest QFC that will be open on Christmas Day is the University Village store.  The Safeway on Roosevelt at 73rd St. will also be open from 8AM-5PM.

The Durn Good (on the corner of 40th and Wallingford) will be open on Christmas Day from 9AM to 5PM.  7-11 at 4612 Stone Way N and at 3939 Stone Way N will be open 24×7.  The Wallingford Shell Station (210 NE 45th St.) and the Wallingford Chevron (1410 N. 45th St.) will also be open on Christmas Day 24×7.

I thought Fuel was closing at Noon on Christmas, but I may have misread the sign.

Actually, their twitter feed says all three locations are open 7 to noon: http://twitter.com/fuelhigh5

Well, darn. It seems Muddy Cup is closed until Sunday. Although I KNOW they said earlier in the week they would be open on Christmas Eve until 1PM. 🙁 There were several who showed up at the door at the same time only to find a sign saying closed. Sigh.

And I know Margaret called Muddy Cup herself before posting this list. So don’t know what’s up with that!

How could you forget the Caffe Appassionato at 45th & Stone? They’re open today, closed tomorrow.

Yes, Thanks Kelley! I called them yesterday, around 8:30 a.m. or so and there was no answer (I’m guessing morning rush?) In my haste to publish, I forgot to call them again. So, thank you for letting us know!
