What in the Wallingford

Jordan Jordan March 2, 2011 5 Comments

Yes, it’s time again for our weekly contest (music please), What in the Wallingford, in which you, the reader, guess where in Wallingford a photo was taken, winning fabulous prizes along the way.

Now, you may have noticed that we didn’t run the contest last week. Frankly, we were a bit disheartened by how easily our photos are being guessed. Several hours is the best stumpery we’ve managed. Two weeks ago, we thought we had one far off the beaten path, but not only did protected static nail it’s location down close to the waterfront by Gas Works, but correctly identified it as a bathysphere. We didn’t even know what it was called until we read the answer!

So how do we make it more difficult? Is it fair to doctor the picture, add a Conte Crayon effect in Photoshop, or does the photo need to be undoctored to be a fair contest?

We’ll give it one more go on the undoctored route. First person to post the correct object name and location of the below photo in the comments section of this post wins a $10 gift certificate to Smash Wine Bar and Bistro on 45th Street (thank you, Smash for sponsoring this contest). Note that the gift card, unlike those group coupon things, can be used during their delicious happy hour.

I think it’s the scarecrow in front of a house on green lake way N near 53rd st N. I love it!

Katherine beat me to the punch – I second the scarecrow.

You got it, Katherine! Almost, but not quite two hours this time. I think we’re going to have to Photoshop the next one…

For those of you curious, here’s a “full body” shot: http://www.flickr.com/photos/unclejojo/5493755808/in/photostream/
