Essentially, you’re stuck here tomorrow

Margaret Margaret June 24, 2011 7 Comments

This is just a reminder that the Seattle Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon takes place tomorrow morning at 7am.  It starts in Tukwila, (which means I-5 southbound will be a mess), and ends at Qwest CenturyLink Field. Runners will have fine views along Lake Washington, and then they’ll choke up the I-90 Express Lanes leading downtown. But most importantly, both directions of SR 99/Aurora Avenue up to N 39th St./Bridge Way closes at 5:30 am and stays shut down until 2:00 pm or so.

If you’re one of the 28,000 people running tomorrow, have a great race. If not, you can spectate at Bridge Way and heckle me as I pass. I’ll be leading the 5 hour pace team, running alongside an Elvis impersonator.

And there’s Gay Pride — parade downtown, festival (and street closures) on the Hill. 😉

Greenwood Ave N will be closed for most of the day starting somewhere around 67th for the car show. There will also be inebriated bicyclists around Green Lake.

@CTinebriated cyclists around Green Lake? Does this have anything to do with the tiny little “Rubber Easter” bike parade I saw in Ballard last night, around 10pm? If so, I’d love to know more!

I don’t know anything about the Ballard one, but the inebriated cyclists were part of the Tour de Green Lake. Saturday I passed 2 women who were headed north on Stone Way dressed in black and pink tutus, presumably to meet up with the group.
