Dognapper’s truck

Margaret Margaret July 2, 2011 10 Comments

Our coverage of Stella’s dognapping continues, with many thanks to Mari, who sent us a clip of the Durn Good Grocery’s surveillance camera footage. If you click on the (.gif) below the picture, you’ll be able to see the truck go past the doorway. For those of you reading this in email, you’ll have to come to the blog to check it out.

I have to say, even though it’s hard because I’m sure the owner is suffering and I don’t want to make him feel any worse, but this dog should never have been left outside unsupervised. (I saw that this was the case many, many times.) If you take chances with your pets, it usually ends badly. I really do hope that Stella finds her way home and I also hope that people will take this incident as a cautionary tale…

Ozzy and I are just devastated!!

Will keep an eye out for truck, spread the word to as many people as I can, and do whatever else I can to help.

Lots of positive thoughts to Stella, Jai, and the whole family. *fingers crossed*

    to marty

but you do want the owner to feel worse. why should this dog never be left outside unsupervised? do you say that about every shop with a shop pet, every dog tied up outside the qfc and bartell’s’? should folks have to leave their pets home and not even bring them along if they might be left unsupervised?

what “chances” are being taken by a dog owner that wants his/her dog to be a part of their lives?

open your mind, marty. read a book. do community service, but don’t judge a good neighbor and competent man of his right to raise his dog freely.peace.

This has been a cautionary tale for everybody involved, a big lesson has been learned but what we are most concerned with is getting the dog back to her owner. Hopefully it was a mistake. Once I called animal control because I saw a guy in the Fred Meyer parking lot put his dog in the trunk. I got the license plate number and called animal control and they went right to his house. Animal control called me back to say the car had the back seat taken out and converted into a safe space and that is how the dog gets in. They got right on that and I was glad to know I was mistaken. Good thing I didn’t berate him in the parking lot or worse try to take his dog.

STELLA IS BACK!!!!!!! Jai just received a call from a ballard vet hospital saying that “someone had left her off there,,,ask tomorrow and i might have some more info. Jai thanks everyone for their concern, their super efforts and technology, and of course for being such great neighbors.having lived in the hood for 22 years in august, i just knew that our collective energies and strong community spirit would bring her home.
    Thank you.
