Got your fill of fests? Not yet? OK, one more for you, then: The NorthWest LoveFest 2011, this one taking place right at our border with Fremont, in the parking lot at the corner of 34th and Stone Way, between the Burke and the water. Here's their PR piece: Northwest LoveFest 2011, an annual community, music and arts festival August 27 and 28, has announced its final lineup. Wallingford Farmers Market

Hey, remember that hullaballoo about where the Wallingford Farmers Market was going to end up? Would it be Wallingford Center? The street to the west? Over by QFC's parking lot? Near Musashi and (heaven forfend) The Drum Exchange? So, it ended up in Meridian Park, which, doomsaysers predicted, would be its death. (OK, we admit it: we might have had a little doomsay in us, as well). How's it doing, you wonder? Actually, smashingly. We've stopped by a few Wednesdays this…

Let It Bee

Thanks to a Wallyhood tip from Helen the Gardener, I've just learned about a new honey company that's being launched, in part, right here in Wallingford. Lower Wallingford resident, Kevin Gow, and his business partner Krista Conner, announce the launch of Beek's Honey.  That's right.  Beek's -- shorthand for bee keeper or bee geek.  Kevin is both, so the name definitely fits.  Beek's doesn't have an online presence yet, but you can sample their product and pick up a jar of…

What your neighbors are saying this week

Got a question? Want to share a handy tip? Check out our Wallyhood Forums where you can communicate with your neighbors! Here's some of the latest buzz going on in our Forums this week: Marjorie needed some help identifying potatoes that are growing in her garden. Wallingfordian has noticed brown tap…

Is this your cat?

Reader Kris just sent us mail letting us know that her friend, also named Kris, in Green Lake found a kitty wandering around her garage yesterday, around 5th Avenue NE and NE 72nd St. Green Lake Kris emailed My Green Lake who published this post, but Wallingford Kris asked if we could do the same. The cat has no collar and is not microchipped. It's a gray tabby with black markings and blue eyes. Wallingford Kris also pointed us to our…

Wallybits: odds & ends edition

Here's some news we've heard around Wallingford this week: Reader Glenn tells us that the projected open date for Walgreen's is November 1, 2011. Looks as though they may be adding a drive thru window. It'd be nice if they also installed an Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Station. A reader wrote that someone broke into her car on 43rd and Sunnyside this week, stealing an iPod and causing her to pony-up a $500 deductible for the window. That really sucks. We've…
