Margaret December 7, 2011 9 Comments

The Wallingford Community Senior Center is hosting a Community “Snowman Pancake” Breakfast this Sunday, December 11 from 9am to noon. Tickets are $5 for adults and $2.50 for children 5 and under. They’ll have snowman pancakes in addition to French Toast and more!

While you’re there, be sure and stop by the “Community Recycling Challenge” table for some nifty recycling tips. I also think the John Stanford International School’s “Green Team” will be on-hand to pick up recyclables and help out with composting. See ya Sunday!

Margaret December 7, 2011 4 Comments

Hansen’s Florist is opening a location on Stone Way N. at N. 46th St. (4606 Stone Way N.), just to the right of Zaw. In an email, Hansen’s owner, Helen, said that they’ve been in the process of decorating and she will let me know their opening date soon. The family-owned floral shop is moving its Fremont location to Wallingford, while its 65 year-old Georgetown location will stay put.

Here’s a little bit about them from their website:

We are local, family owned serving Seattle and the surrounding cities since 1945. We offer same-day, daily and worldwide delivery and look …

We haven’t seen anything on the news/police/fire wires yet.  Did anyone else hear it, and does anybody know what happened?

Gas explosion? Car accident? Fire? Transformer?

Let us know in the Comments section!

Center for Wooden Boats signs lease for N. Lake Union site

Margaret December 6, 2011 Comments are off

Back in September we told you about the possibility of having a Center for Wooden Boats (CWB) location over here, on the north side of Lake Union, as a second, complementary site to their current South Lake Union location. Cool, yes?

The lease allows the CWB to use the land, owned by King County Metro, as a surplus warehouse and storage yard. The location of the site is adjacent to Gas Works Park, …
