Ode to a tree

Margaret Margaret December 9, 2012 2 Comments

Susan Lowney wrote to tell us that workers were forced to cut down a dying old tree at 49th and Densmore this week.

“It’s been my neighbor since I moved here in 1977,” she writes, adding, “I understand that the remaining stump will be harvested for making furniture.  A fitting end for a dying tree.”

I and my siblings grew up with that tree, so sad to see it come to an end. We lived on 50th where Densmore ends. I have several fond memories of that tree. Thanks for the news!
