‘Cape Spin’ and Solarize NW Seattle

Margaret Margaret January 3, 2013 Comments are off

CapeSpinFlyerThere’s been lots of recent discussion about the SolarizeNW Project for Wallingford residents to solarize their home. If you’re interested in learning more about it, you might want to check out this Friday’s Meaningful Movies when SolarizeNW and Northwest SEED will be on hand to answer questions, discuss benefits, strategies, costs, group discounts, federal & local tax credits, and financing.

This Friday’s (January 4) film is “Cape Spin – An American Power Struggle.” Here’s a little bit about the film:

CAPE SPIN! (90 min, Robbie Gemmel & John Kirby, 2011) tells the surreal, fascinating, tragicomic story of the battle over what would be America’s largest clean energy project.

Cape Wind would be the U.S.’s first offshore windfarm…But strange alliances formed for and against: Kennedys, Kochs, and everyday folks do battle with the developer and green groups over the future of American power.

With full access to both sides, a commitment to impartial storytelling and fueled by a satiric ‘revolutionary’ soundtrack, Cape Spin!  is “a gripping and entertaining study of eco-capitalism and grassroots democracy”. “It proves that environmental films can be crowd pleasers, and not at all just about the environment.”

Trailer & more information on the Film: HERE

The event is from 7:00 to 9:30 PM and is FREE and open to the public! …but Donations are kindly accepted).

LOCATION:

Keystone Congregational Church (5019 Keystone Place North)
