Wallingford United Methodist Church (2115 N 42nd St. at Bagley) will be hosting a “Transgender 101” panel discussion and a showing of the film “Trans”:
“It takes a special kind of courage to be who you really are”

Wallingford United Methodist Church is a place where all are welcome. WUMC is an organization of faith that believes in every single individual’s sacred worth. This Saturday, March 9th, we invite one and all to join us in a special movie event dedicated to a group of wonderful people traditionally unfairly unserved by faith communities – the transgender community. Dinner provided.

Here are the details:

What do you know about the T in GLBTQ?

How much do we know about the lives of transgendered people? What should we understand in order to provide support, both as citizens and as members of a faith community?

Please join us Saturday, March 9th at 5:30 PM when Wallingford United Methodist Church hosts a Trans 101 panel presentation plus a free viewing of the award-winning documentary Trans.

We will begin with a soup & salad meal. Panel presentation begins at 6:00 PM, followed by movie showing at 7:00 PM. Childcare will be provided.

What is Trans 101? We are a group of four individuals who present trans 101 from the male to female perspective. The presentation involves the four of us each giving a short overview of ourselves. We then give a talk about transgender terms and where each of the panel participants fits on the transgender spectrum. After that, we open it up for questions.

TRANS the movie is a new documentary that provides a glimpse into the world of the Transgender Community and “provides an up-close and very personal vision into the lives, loves, and challenges of a remarkable cast of characters of all ages and from all walks of life.” Due to brief graphic scenes and sensitive topics, the film is recommended for ages 13 and up; childcare will be provided. View the trailer at www.transthemovie.com, and come be inspired!
