Senior Center Party

Mike Ruby Mike Ruby November 1, 2021 Comments are off

Community organizations often hold “galas” as fund raisers. That has become hard during the pandemic. Most have moved to a hybrid, where a few folks come in person while others sign in via the internet — to make it a gala, they add some food and drink that you can enjoy at home. That is what the Wallingford Community Senior Center is doing for their Share to Care event.

The Senior Center is asking everyone who cares about the seniors in our community to sign up for the party next Saturday evening, November 6 at 6 pm. They are asking a contribution of $25, but if you really want to party, they are offering several optional packages of cheese and sparkling water or wine so you can make it a special occasion. You may register and select a party package here  or you can call Dani at the Center at  206 461 7825. The wine and treats will be delivered to your home the afternoon of the party.

A trivia game and a live auction will be highlights of the evening. You may get a start on your holiday shopping at the live auction by purchasing items, including packages from local businesses and sports teams.

For many Wallingford seniors, the Wallingford Community Senior Center is a place of belonging. Friendships have started over a game of bridge or Mah Jong, and tech skills have been developed with coaching by Center mentors. Senior exercise classes (MTWF mornings) have helped many to remain fit and active. Other classes and lectures are offered, both in-person and via Zoom. During pandemic isolation, the Zoom classes have helped bring people together. An on-site social worker provides counseling for those with serious life problems. Check out the Center website.

We hope that you will take the opportunity to attend this gala from the comfort of your own home. You will be helping to maintain this valuable community service for many North Seattle seniors.
