Cookie Crave & Creamery Now Open on Wallingford Avenue

Recently, my partner’s mom relocated to University House. When I walked over to see her on a recent Saturday afternoon—for the routine tech support that is needed by many retirees—my route took me through the center of Wallingford. I came across some of the new shops on Wallingford Avenue N, and the one beckoning me that sunny day (in January!!), between Dumpling the Noodle and Julia’s of Wallingford, was a tiny storefront in the Chronicle Building (4417 Wallingford Ave N, Suite B) called Cookie Crave & Creamery. The brown paper covering the windows had come down, indicating they were open. So I popped in to say “hi.”

I found owner, Tim Norris, busily baking pink and red embellished sprinkle cookies for Valentine’s Day. I spoke to Tim about his journey to our neighborhood. After a long search for a place to open a new cookie business, he chose a spot in central Wallingford across from QFC and Wallingford Center. He said he really liked the space and location.

Tim bakes fresh cookies daily from scratch using top-quality ingredients. There are always some gluten-free and vegan options. My palate said butter is a big part of many of the recipes, which he confirmed. Varieties cycle daily, but some in the regular lineup include salted caramel, almond bliss, lemon chip, and brookies, as well as the classics: chocolate chip, oatmeal, and peanut butter. Cookies are priced at $2.50 each, with day-old cookies for $1. For the creamery portion of the business, Tim sources from Olympic Mountain Ice Cream, keeping four flavors in the cooler. Ice cream is $4.95 for a small order, and $6.95 for a large, and pints are also for sale. Additionally, they offer ice cream sandwiches and take-home cookies to bake, as well as catering services.

The Cookie Crave & Creamery website is specifically marketed towards UW students, with online ordering set up through DoorDash. Also on their website, there’s a bit more about the shop’s reason for being:

Cookie Crave & Creamery was born from a passion for creating the ultimate dessert experience. We believe that a simple treat can make any day better, which is why we pour our hearts into every cookie and scoop of ice cream we serve to our Seattle community.

The store is open Tuesday–Saturday, 11 am–7 pm. Tim said that people tend to order right around closing time, creating a last-minute rush. Perhaps he will have to extend his hours (hint, hint).

For me, walking to University House is a joy. It just got a little sweeter.
