It’s that time of year again: musical performance time at Lincoln High School! This fantastic performing arts program is putting on shows in several genres to cap off the school year, and the public is invited to attend. All events will be held in the auditorium at Lincoln, entrance on Woodlawn Avenue near N 44th Street. There will be food for sale, including banh mi sandwiches and sweet treats, with all proceeds benefitting Performing Arts at Lincoln.
Theater
The theater arts program is presenting the musical Guys and Dolls this weekend and next. Tickets are $22 ($17 for seniors and students) and available here. The show schedule is as follows:

Guys and Dolls is a musical set in 1950s New York City, focusing on gamblers and romance. Sky Masterson, a high-rolling gambler, takes a bet from Nathan Detroit, a fellow hustler, to win over Sarah Brown, a pious Salvation Army worker. As Sky pursues Sarah, he unexpectedly falls in love with her. Meanwhile, Nathan’s fiancée, Miss Adelaide, is tired of waiting after 14 years of engagement, pushing him to quit gambling. The story explores themes of love and redemption as both couples navigate their relationships, ultimately finding happiness through unexpected choices and personal growth. (Language warning: Guys and Dolls includes mild profanity.)

Orchestra
Lincoln has three orchestra classes that play at different levels: Symphony, the most advanced, playing top-level collegiate repertoire; Chamber, advanced, playing zesty, demanding repertoire; and Concert, playing introductory repertoire to prepare for moving up to Chamber and Symphony.

Choir
The Lincoln High School Concert Choir and Advanced Chorale, under the direction of Aimee Mell, sang the National Anthem for the Seattle Storm’s pre-season game against the new Portland WNBA team, the Portland Fire, last Wednesday, April 29th.
Lincoln Choirs are offered as classes open to all students, providing opportunities for musical growth, performance, and community. At this year’s Washington Music Educators Association (WMEA) Elliott Bay Regional Solo & Ensemble Competition, students delivered outstanding performances. Lincoln soloists competed in five of the six available categories, earning first place in three: Henry Warburton (12), Baritone; Anna Lysyshyn (12), Soprano; and Vincent Shapland (10), Bass. In addition, all three Lincoln ensembles received the highest possible rating of Superior.
Following their regional success, the soloists advanced to the WIAA State Solo & Ensemble Contest in Ellensburg on April 25. Each student performed beautifully, earning high marks and representing Lincoln High School with excellence and professionalism.
The choirs will conclude the year with a special end‑of‑year and senior celebration concert. All are welcome.
