The current blast of warm weather and sunny days is the first reminder that we have really turned the seasonal corner toward our delightful Seattle summer. The second reminder is that the annual Tilth Alliance edible plant sale is taking place this weekend at Meridian Park. The main sale occurs Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. There is also an early bird sale (ticket required) that happens on Friday evening, May 8, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
This is both a retail/home gardening reminder, as well as a neighborhood logistical one: a LOT of people come here for this sale, so expect the streets to be busy and parking to be scarce around the park through the weekend.
As a gardener at the p-patch community garden located in Meridian Park, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that co-occurring with the Tilth plant sale is the Good Shepherd P-Patch bake sale. This is the only fundraiser for our garden and is conveniently set up alongside the line for the plant sale. We use the proceeds from this sale for all those sexy gardening accoutrements like manure, wood chips, and hose nozzles.
Please attend and spend freely at these two worthy weekend events!
