U District Advocates present Outdoors on the Ave for the sixth year, with free concerts and movies on the four Fridays after Labor Day, starting on September 11th. This year’s theme is Back to School. The events will be held at the Square at U District Station, the same location as the World Cup soccer watch parties. Concerts start at 6 pm, and movies begin at dusk and end by 9:45 pm.

Not only are the events free, but there is more: free popcorn (until supplies run out) and nightly raffles. Every attendee also receives a wristband good for discounts at participating U District businesses.

Bring a chair or a blanket, grab take-out from a local restaurant, and settle in with your neighbors as the daylight fades. Everyone is welcome. New this year: participatory cinema coined the ‘User-Dimension.’ 

The Square, dubbed an “Urban Living Room,” conveniently sits right above the U District light rail station, making commuting a breeze. There are also buses and bike lanes, plus the U District is within walking distance of Wallingford. (Note: No event parking is provided.)
