CVS Development Meeting on Monday

I want to update you on some progress on the CVS issue. As you may know, CVS plans to build suburban-style new stores not just in Wallingford but in Queen Anne and West Seattle too.  Those communities have similar concerns to ours.

Good news first The good news is that CVS is now signaling it wants to do the right thing in our community by re-designing its building in Queen Anne, hiring a local architect, and incorporating input from the community.  I haven’t seen its new plans yet but I hear they are significantly better than before.…

The Pagliacci Pizza location on Stone Way at N. 40th St. (4003 Stone Way N.) has transformed from a tiny take-out spot to a sleek ‘n snazzy dine-in restaurant, complete with a new pizza slice bar. In fact, it’s this weekend! The 31st annual Great Wallingford Wurst Festival takes place Friday and Saturday (September 13-14) on the grounds of St. Benedict School (4811 Wallingford Avenue North). The festival is family-friendly, featuring lots of kid bouncies, games, crafts, a Biergarten, tons of homemade goodies for sale, plus lots of live entertainment on the outdoor stage.

Conlin’s Legislation Won’t Affect ‘CVS’ Design

Seattle City Councilmember Richard Conlin has introduced new legislation to implement minimum density requirements to Neighborhood Commercial Zones. You can read the entire legislation here) but here’s the gist:

“The legislation requires a minimum density for Neighborhood Commercial (NC) zones in urban centers, urban villages and station area overlay districts that have a pedestrian designation overlay. The minimum density level, measured by the Floor Area Ratio (FAR), would be based on the maximum allowable height in the NC zone. Harvest Festival is this Saturday

Get ready for Seattle Tilth’s Harvest Fair happening at Meridian Park (4649 Sunnyside Avenue North) on Saturday, September 7, from 10:00am to 4:00pm. This hands-on festival is a fun day of workshops, activities, music and dancing, cider pressings, and cooking demonstrations.
