Hamilton Walking Map

Just in time for school to start (which is Wednesday, September 4, barring any last minute announcements of a teacher strike), a Hamilton International Middle School parent has created a handy walking map to Hamilton (1601 N. 41st St.) from points in Wallingford and Fremont.

Fall Classes at the Good Shepherd Center

The Wallingford Community Senior Center and PEPS (Program for Early Parent Support) have some new classes and sessions available at the Good Shepherd Center (4649 Sunnyside Avenue North). Check ’em out:

Stolen Bike? Get it back!

Seattle Police Department recently launched @Getyourbikeback, a Twitter feed for their inventory of over 500 bicycles in their Evidence Warehouse.

Why does the SPD have so many bikes? According to the SPD Blotter, “Each one of those bikes was abandoned somewhere in the city then later recovered by officers. We may have your bike, and we’d like to reunite you with your wheels.”

The Blotter points out that most folks don’t report their stolen bikes because they don’t know the serial number. “You don’t absolutely need a serial number to get your bike back, but it does expedite the process,” …

Apply Now for the Neighborhood Matching Fund

Got any ideas for some fun neighborhood projects? Did you know you can apply for up to $25,000 in matching funds through the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods? It’s true! The deadline to apply is Monday, October 7 by 5:00pm. The activities may be physical projects, as well as educational, cultural, and relationship-strengthening activities. Need a little inspiration? Westward and Little Gull Opens September 3

The long-awaited waterfront restaurant, Westward, and its counterpart, Little Gull Grocery, opens on Tuesday, September 3. The new full service restaurant and grocery (with its own 156 ft dock!) is conveniently located off the Burke Gilman Trail at Eastern (2501 Northlake Way).
