Spoke & Food = Biking & Dining for a Cause

Margaret July 26, 2013 1 Comment

The fourth annual Spoke & Food takes place next Tuesday, July 30, from 5:30 to 9:30pm. That’s when folks hop on their bikes and visit one (or more) of the 19 participating restaurants, who, in turn, donate 20% or more of all diners’ checks during the event. 100% of those proceeds go directly to a Seattle-area non-profit.

How cool is that? Very, I’d say! In fact last year, $4,450 was raised for FamilyWorks. This year, the event will benefit Bike Works, a non-profit that works for kids, bikes, and the community through their family biking programming, encouraging and supporting parents and …

Margaret July 23, 2013 Comments are off

“I’m still particularly looking for folks to volunteer as Harvest Leads in Wallingford,” Mariah adds.

Here’s the skinny:

Shannon Conner, Assistant Principal for 8th Grade at Hamilton International Middle School, will take leave of her post so she can serve as Principal for McClure Middle School.

In a letter to the Hamilton community, Shannon writes:

Dear Hamilton International Community:

I am writing this letter to you with very mixed emotions. Margaret July 20, 2013 5 Comments

Wallingford photographer, Rebecca Sullivan wrote to tell us some good news about the former Golden Olive space:

Just thought you might like to know, the Golden Olive space is being renovated by Sedat Uysal, the owner chef of Cafe Paloma in Pioneer Square. Maybe you know the place, it’s a very popular lunch/dinner place with a strong European cafe feel. Sedat is a well-known and beloved Seattleite and Cafe Paloma is a gathering place for artists, musicians, Pioneer Square business people etc. He’s opening up a dinner-only restaurant in mid-August. It will be a sophisticated restaurant with modern Turkish cuisine.…
