Stone Way Pedestrian Sting

Shannon February 3, 2011 28 Comments

Did you happen to get stuck with a ticket on Stone Way today? If not, call yourself lucky (or careful), as numerous vehicles were pulled over this afternoon after not immediately stopping for undercover cops casually crossing the crosswalk between 41st and 40th Street.

The  Seattle Police Department Pedestrian Sting Operation was granted by the city council after complaints from neighboring businesses/neighbors.  There was a large police presence, including motorcycle officers hiding in a small condo driveway waiting to ticket vehicles.…

So, we did a little digging and located Daniel Sims, the Seattle Public Utilities contact in charge of Graffiti Education and Outreach.  Here’s what we learned from Daniel:

If you are interested in removing graffiti from private property, we offer paint, supplies, and a wagon to use for carting all your supplies. You can e-mail me at [email protected].

Wallingford Has Been Tagged

Shannon January 12, 2011 21 Comments

While most of the neighborhood was admiring the beautiful snow that fell over Wallingford last night and enjoying the peacefulness it brought along with it, an individual(s) was busy tagging 45th Street businesses with graffiti.  While venturing out this afternoon I spotted several businesses that have been tagged up and down 45th Street.  I can’t be the only person who finds this act of damage appalling.  Hopefully SPD finds the culprit(s) behind the 45th Street graffiti!

Scooter Hit By Truck on 38th Street

Shannon January 10, 2011 2 Comments

Today at 1:58pm on Bridge Way North and 38th Street, fire and rescue was responding to an accident that took place right before the Aurora overpass.  I happened to be traveling on 38th Street at the time of this accident and snapped an image of fire and rescue cleaning the scene and loading the individual into the ambulance.

According to a Wallingford resident at the scene:

A person on a scooter was hit by a truck and the driver of the scooter was quickly taken to the hospital to treat injuries.

At this moment we don’t have any further details …
