Changes Coming to Bus Route 44

Metro and SDOT are planning to make some changes to Metro Route 44, which travels along the NW Market Street/45th Street corridor connecting Ballard, Wallingford, and the University District.  Through funding presented by Bridging the Gap–the City’s voter approved levy for transportation and maintenance–the plan includes designs to improve the route’s efficiency, with the goal to reduce travel time by 10% throughout the day.  Metro Route 44 is ranked as one of the most popular routes in the Seattle area, carrying 6,000 riders per day.

Royal Enterprise Trawler Fire on Lake Union

I just happened to be walking out of Durn Good Grocery around 7:45pm tonight as fire trucks and emergency response teams flew by turning left onto Stone Way.  The continuous sound of sirens flying down Stone Way was heard for over 15 minutes from my home.

As I approached the scene, emergency response teams worked quickly as thick white smoke escaped the ship from the main deck level.  Water was quickly being sprayed onto the trawler from all angles.  The Northlake Shipyard was surrounded by sirens ad lights as they fought to control this fire.

Friends of McDonald School Need Volunteers

The new play structure has been delivered to McDonald School at 54th and Latona and is anxiously awaiting its installation.  The Friends of McDonald School are in need of volunteers to assist in the installation process during the weekend of Friday, September 24th-Monday, September 27th.  With the help of volunteers the new play structure will be complete and ready for inspection.

This project has been funded by the City of Seattle Neighborhood Matching Fund, King County Youth Sports Facilities Grant Program, and donations from neighboring individuals.
