Many Hands Make Unity Work

I joined my neighbors on Saturday at Hands Around Green Lake, "a peaceful gathering to honor our community, our resilience as a nation, and the values we stand for: unity, freedom, equality, justice, kindness, love, resilience, compassion, and community." The event was inspired by a similar event held at Lake Merritt in Oakland, CA. While it looks like our California neighbors enjoyed some sun on their day, consistent drizzle and a chill in the air didn't stop a reported 2700+ folks…

Moored in Tangletown

Tangletown resident, Gina, snapped this pic of a boat moored on the traffic circle on Kenwood at Woodlawn. If you look closely, you'll see an orange "vehicle violation" sticker on the windshield. KIRO News posted a picture of the sticker up close, which you can see here. The Seattle Police officer who issued the sticker wrote "Really?" under "Remarks" on the sticker. KIRO also notes that "The Seattle Police Department gave the vessel a vacate notice, ordering it be removed by…

Christmas light show extravaganza

Boy, I'll tell ya, Greenlake resident Jeff Rodenburg has a thing about Christmas lights. Since 2001, Jeff has put on a nightly Christmas light show in front of his home that dazzles NE 57th Street throughout the month of December. He's got a whopping 30,000 lights in all, with 19,000 of them used for a huge Christmas tree. The lights are synchronized to music that you can listen to on your car radio (or portable, if you walk), tuned to 102.1…

We wanted to give you the heads-up in case you're headed to Green Lake these next few days.  Seattle Parks is holding a "Work Jamboree" between 8:00am and 2:00PM on April 18-20 to gussy up the park and get it ready for the summer. Specifically, they'll be doing rolling closures of the outer running loop to resurface the path.
