4th of July Fireworks are a ‘go’

Ready or not, Wallingford, the 4th of July fireworks show for this year is a done deal. The Seattle Chamber of Commerce, along with Mayor McGinn and Seafair, just announced that the 4th of July Fireworks are going to take place this year on Lake Union, with Gas Works Park as the location for day long festivities including food booths, a beer garden, music, displays, and activities. Beth Knox, President and CEO for Seafair, announced that Western Display Fireworks will launch…

Mayor McGinn wants fireworks for the 4th of July. (So there.)

Following Seafair's announcement on Tuesday, that the Blue Angels would not be coming this summer, Mayor Mike McGinn issued the following statement: A fireworks show on the Fourth of July is a civic tradition. I, like many Seattle residents, was disappointed to learn last week that there would not be fireworks this year at Gas Works Park. That's why I am delighted to announce that we are working with Seafair and the Seattle Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce to craft a new and…

Family 4th at Lake Union canceled…or is it?

The announcement on the Family 4th home page almost reads like a bad April Fool's Day joke; and at first, I thought it was a prank since One Reel made the announcement to the media on Monday morning. He's got a whopping 30,000 lights in all, with 19,000 of them used for a huge Christmas tree. The lights are synchronized to music that you can listen to on your car radio (or portable, if you walk), tuned to 102.1…
