Reading, film screening raise awareness on homelessness

On Jan. 26, the night before Seattle's annual count of homeless individuals in King County, a poetry reading and film screening will seek to raise awareness about homelessness. The event will feature Seattle's Youth Poet Laureate, Angel Gardner, who in June talked to The Seattle Times about her own experience with homelessness, alongside Seattle's Civic Poet, Claudia Castro Luna, and writers from Recovery Cafe and Mary's Place. Drinking at the movies

The Guild 45 theater has an application for a liquor license posted. Drinking while watching a movie has been the norm in Europe for years, but it's a relatively new thing here in the states. Families, neighbors, friends, and superheroes are all welcome to the Wallingford Community Senior Centerthis Saturday night (June 1, from 5:30 to 8:30pm) where they’ll be offering a spaghetti feed, followed by a screening of “The Incredibles”. The movie runs 105 minutes and is rated PG. The Wallingford Community Senior Center is located in lower level of the Good Shepherd Center (4649 Sunnyside Avenue N).
