A few weeks back, Loretta confronted this guy tagging the northwest entrance to Meridian park with spray paint. She called 911, while fending off his implorings about the significance of his art. She says he left on a bike, with black backpack full of paint and an orange bucket. Waste Management Announces Community Project Grants

You’ve certainly seen their trucks moving about our neighborhood (and if not, I’ve provided a photo). Waste Management is the city contractor responsible for collecting recycling, trash and compost/yard waste here in Wallingford and about half of the remaining areas of Seattle. A reader recently wrote to us alerting us to a possible scam artist who’s making the rounds of Capitol Hill, the U District and now, apparently, our neighborhood. Details are posted here on Reddit, but the basic story is that this guy came to Seattle for a job interview, had his stuff stolen, and now he needs your help with bus fare back home to San Francisco. Ice cream catastrophe!

Did anyone else wake up during that epic rain storm last Friday? The Molly Moon's location in Wallingford had a rude awakening after the roof of their store collapsed from all the rain. The shop is closed for repairs until Monday, August 12th. They will reopen with buy one, get one free scoops all day on the 12th. In the meantime, if you want to get a frozen treat in the neighborhood, better head to Fainting Goat Gelato instead.
