Coming soon: Bill the Butcher

Last week we told you about the construction over at the former 7-Eleven spot on Stone Way and 47th. A few of you have even told us that folks over at the Post Office mentioned that Bill the Butcher and Zaw Pizza were planning to take the space, and someone in the Twitterverse actually had the chance to talk to a construction worker onsite. So we tried reaching out to Bill the Butcher corporate, and so far, no luck; but last…

Stoneway Village Construction Update

It's only been a few weeks since we reported the good news about our neighborhood's beloved festering pit being transformed into Stoneway Village; but folks close by have already witnessed some action down there and, by gosh, it's a beautiful thing.  Reader Denny sent us a few pictures, including the one featured on the right here, and added in e-mail that "the work appears pretty modest but it's becoming an active construction site. Breaking ground at the pit?

We have it on good (neighbor) authority that plans are inching forward to fill the festering pit on 40th and Stone Way N. Reader Mike tells us that he spoke to someone who will be working on the foundation; and recently, he and his fiance spoke with a Geo Engineer who said that work may start on or around January 17.  Mike told us that the neighbors in the immediate area have not yet been officially notified. At this point, nothing…

56th Street Market opening mid-January

Folks in the Tangletown area will be pleased to know that the new 56th Street Market (2201 N 56th St.) is scheduled to open some time in mid-January.  Although a date hasn't yet been finalized, owners PJ and Sami told me that once the liquor license is approved and the shelving is up, they'll only need a week to stock the the new store. Speaking of shelves, Sami and PJ were working on shelving assembly today when I stopped by to…
