Rock Star / Jazz Star

Spring inevitably leads to summer, and summer inevitably leads to a quandary for parents: what to do with the kids when school is out. Kristin from Wallingford's Creative Music Adventures suggests Rock Star Camp or Jazz Camp: Rock Star Camp: This camp will be a fun exploration of popular music for kids. Participants will be grouped according to their playing level and experience. Each group will rotate through different pods where they will learn contemporary, child friendly songs on different instruments.…

Stolen Subaru

Our friend Kenn writes: This weekend, my green 2002 Subaru Impreza was stolen. Since I have heard from a ton of people that cars often turn up in the neighborhood, anyway you might be able to throw this pic of it up on the blog in case someone finds it in the neighborhood? It is pretty easy to identify as I was going to take it into the body shop since it is missing its front bumper (it was clipped by…

Plant Out Front

If today is anything like yesterday, you may have a few hours amidst the rain to get outside and start work on your spring garden. If you do have a spring garden, and if today is like yesterday, and for some reason the placement of your garden is up for a vote, I'd like to vote that you move it to your front yard. There are two simple reasons: I like to see what other people are planting, and apparently it's…

Solar-Curious? Meet Others Like You Today!

Back in January, we told you about a free workshop offered by Solarize Northwest. Well, somehow it snuck up on us, but that workshop is TODAY at Solid Ground (1501 N. 45th St.) from 10-11:30. I've waxed poetic about my family's solar panels in previous posts, with my favorite part being that even though Seattle's not known for it's…

The tower crane footing is formed and reinforcing has been installed. The tower crane base will be set on March 30 and the cranes are…

Family 4th at Lake Union canceled…or is it?

The announcement on the Family 4th home page almost reads like a bad April Fool's Day joke; and at first, I thought it was a prank since One Reel made the announcement to the media on Monday morning. But as the day wore on, and more media outlets were announcing the cancellation, I realized it was the real deal: Soooo what, that's it? No last minute plea? No pitch to giant corporations? Or is this *final* as in -- sometime in…
