Color Without Fear

Patricia has been an architect in Wallingford for over 30 years. Her Wallyhood role is to provide a forum about Wallingford architecture. Questions, musings, rants and raves about design may be addressed to her. The queries may be pragmatic or theoretical. Energetic blog discussion will, hopefully, follow. She looks forward to hearing from you! Are you thinking about a color change for your house? Perhaps not the exterior, maybe just a room or two? In our neighborhood, you’ve seen strong house…

Donate a PC to the Wallingford Neighborhood Association

Janet Strong over at the Wallingford Neighborhood Association (formerly the WNO, and around the corner from Tully's) provided us with a short list of office items they need to keep things running smoothly. If you've got any of the following you're willing to part with, or you have a little bit of time with technical know-how, drop her a line at [email protected]. They need: · 2 New (or almost new?) Good Pesach!

Tonight at sundown begins Passover, perhaps the raddest Jewish holiday of them all. Sure, Chanukah gets all the attention because of its proximity to Christmas (thus leading to Jewsmas, our creation, but that's another story). However, we have always been partial to Passover. Why? So glad you asked. Passover is a celebration of the Jews escape from slavery in Egypt, throwing off the shackles of oppression and becoming a free people again. And the story isn't a slow, grinding process of…

Chroma Salon

Wallyhood welcomes our newest sponsor, Chroma Salon and Spa, located at 1905 North 45th Street. I would love for these chickens to stay in their own yard. While I admire people who keep chickens, I am not…

Seattle Schools: Last day and Lincoln to reopen?

Lincoln High School Alums might be interested to know that Seattle Public Schools is thinking about reopening Lincoln as a high school in 2018; but before everyone breaks out the red and black pom poms, this is very early speculation. At this point, Lincoln must remain an interim site for schools that are either undergoing renovation, or, as in Lowell Elementary School's case, over capacity. And then Lincoln will need to be modernized, including undergoing seismic retrofitting. Plus, there's a small…

Musical Plates Returns to Wallingford

Back in December, we told you about White Moustache Urban Adventure Company's musical/foodie mashup, Musical Plates. For $200, a couple can eat and drink their way around Seattle. In a tour bus. With a band. The bus stops at select restaurants, the guests go inside, nosh for a bit; and the band hops out and plays live. Everyone gets back in the bus which takes them to the next location. Sounds awesome, yes? If you're intrigued, then you'll be happy to…
