Senior Center Breakfasting Again

After announcing last month that their doors will remain open, the Wallingford Community Senior Center has steadily begun to rebuild. The center has reached 20 percent of their fundraising goal toward an anonymously donated $25,000 Challenge Grant since ramping up efforts in March. Additionally, they’ve welcomed back two former programs and are gearing up to host a community-wide pancake breakfast later this month. Kathleen Cromp of the Senior Center tells us that they have reached about $5,000 in donations so far…

La Boulangerie: A Tale of a Great Baker

For years, I have enjoyed the smell and sight of La Boulangerie on the corner of N. 45th and Bagley, known for its assortment of fresh baked French breads decoratively lining the shelves. Old Tweedy, New Tenant: Revealed

Back in March we reported the sudden appearance of photos pasted to the windows of the old Tweedy and Pop store.  For a month, now, all that we saw were photos of oriental rugs, with a caption that read, "Heirloom Rugs." Today, we saw two guys on ladders unrolling a large vinyl sign above the store front, and now the mystery has been solved, sort of.  Looks like the 'hood is, in fact, getting a rug store soon. We'll keep you…
