Old Tweedy, New Tenant

John writes: The old Tweedy & Popp store has decloaked. There are now big color posters in the windows with pictures of oriental rugs. One of them reads, "Heirloom Rugs." I dunno if that's the actual name of the new business. I wonder if it'll be one of those oriental rug shops that have perpetual "Going Out Of Business Liquidation Sale!" signs but never actually close down? Sweet. I can see it now: "Grand Opening Sale! Going Out of Business!"

Crush

As long as we're talking about fabric, we thought we'd let you know that Fabric Crush, "a fresh, modern fabric boutique specializing in cotton fabrics, patterns and books from a variety of designers", is opening in Wallingford Center. It sounds like they've burst the seams of their old home in Magnolia and have decided to weave themselves into Wallingford, instead. Irwin’s – Wallingford’s Economic Engine of Tasty Goodness

Senior Center Verdict Reached: It’s a Go!

Originally uploaded by MTM Photography After much deliberation, it looks like Wallingford's much-loved Senior Center is here to stay! The Board and executive director have worked to develop a sustainable business model over the past month that they’ll put to use in 2010. The community's significant financial support and an anonymous resident's matching challenge grant of $25,000 majorly contributed to keeping their doors open, says the Board. At this time, the center plans to restart select programs in April and to tentatively restore all services…

OmCulture

Michael Suzerris had a vision: he wanted to create a space in Wallingford where people could come together and advance the kind of projects that he thought would nurture the community: it would be not just a yoga studio, but also a dance space, a coffee house, a kids play area, a barter fair, a community center. As the owner of the Yoga Life studios in Green Lake and Queen Anne, he had experience driving projects like this to completion, and he was…
