The iconic May Restaurant & Lounge (1612 N 45th) abruptly closed its doors and spent last weekend taking down signage, removing decorations, and cleaning out the interior. A sign on the door announces the opening of a new restaurant Sisi Kay Thai. May Restaurant confirmed that the space is under new ownership that wants to do something new.

We’ve had some prime yard-raking weather this week and last. So if you got out there and cleaned the place up, you’ve probably got piles of yard waste lying around waiting for the inevitable winds to blow it all away. What to do with it all? The morning crime beat saw some action this morning.  Most of the street facing windows at Slave to the Needle (403 45th St) were smashed sometime over night.  The broken windows were smashed out of the panes with more damage than just a stray rock tossed through a window.

I saw several of their staff cleaning up the debris early this morning.  They said nothing appeared to be stolen.  It appeared to be just random violence.  There was also one smashed window across the street at the building that houses the new KinderCare.
