Get Ready for Gardening Season 2025 – Part I

cdas April 8, 2025 Leave a Comment

The gardening season for 2025 is upon us. The last frost day for Wallingford (zone 9a) is past, so it is time to roll up your sleeves and start tilling. April is the perfect time to start seeds indoors, or venture out to a plant sale event. The sooner you get started, the longer your growing season will be. To help with your summer gardening, there are two amazing plant sales taking place in the neighborhood in the coming weeks.

The first one, organized by Freeway Estates Community Orchards (FECO), will be on Sunday, April 13th, from 1-4 PM…

Mexican Food Truck Adds Flavor to 45th and Thackeray

Megan Dulgar Okabayashi April 5, 2025 1 Comment

The menu at Taqueria Juarez is impressive, offering everything from tacos to quesadillas …

In fact, I learned a nursery has been at this location since 1998, under various names and ownership.

Madison was especially keen to get the word out to “Wallingfordians” that there are gardening resources right in our backyard, especially for apartment/small-space gardeners, …

Gary Shigenaka April 1, 2025 6 Comments

During a wide-ranging news conference at Murphy’s Pub in Wallingford, Mayor Bruce Harrell announced the sale of the iconic Good Shepherd Center to the Chinese-German real estate joint venture Char Siu Polka. The historic building, once a Catholic home for wayward girls, will be redeveloped into a 2000-unit luxury residence complex for wayward tech workers, to be called Amazon Homes at the Good Shepherd. The current children’s playground will be turned into a residents-only off-leash dog park, while the Good Shepherd P-Patch will be “reverted” back into 24-hr. pickleball courts (the site originally was the location of tennis courts for …
