We just got off the phone with Anne Radford, spokesperson for the Washington State Liquor Control Board, who confirmed that the WSLCB has lost their lease on the existing Wallingford location and expect to close it mid-March. However, they don’t anticipate having a new location secured for “a few” months after that, so there will be a brief, but seemingly interminable period when Wallingfordites will have to hike to Ballard or the University Village area to ward off the DT’s.
We did mention to her, per Rob‘s suggestion, that the building across the street, previously occupied by Besos Del Sol, was vacant. We even sweetened the deal by mentioning that if the community was willing to bucket brigade Tweedy & Popp’s inventory, that we imagined we would have no problems bringing out volunteers to hand deliver bottles of cognac and scotch across the street. We even offered actual buckets for the little airplane bottles they have.
She seemed reluctant to accept the idea, but we’re confident she’ll come around.
