Please help us sing a sad song: The 50th Street Market is shutting its doors permanently next week, following unsuccessful attempts to find a buyer. The Market kept my family in milk and kitty litter for the past 4 years, and made our car-free lifestyle possible–without which we wouldn’t have moved here. It survived many years in many hands across the street from 7-11, and got regular car traffic from beer and cigarette shoppers. I would have thought alcohol sales would be up in this economy.
