Bike to Work Month

Bike to Work Month is a time to park your car and put away your bus pass in favor of a nobler vehicle — the bicycle!

During the month of May, you can compete with Bike to Work Teams around the region, and be counted as one of the many thousands of bike commuters around Seattle.

There are a couple of ways you can participate:woman_on_bike

Join the Group Health Commute Challenge – Commit to riding 5 round trips between May 1 – 31 and be eligible for great prizes.  Nothing motivates like prizes, eh?  Just join one of the county teams or form your own.  Sign up online at www.cbcef.org or call 206-522-3222.

Ride on Bike to Work Day, May 21st. Be counted as one of thousands of bike commuters in the Seattle area as Cascade Bike Club counts the number of bike commuters on the 21st, and uses the numbers as the default indicator for the local bike community. Rider numbers have increased from 5,000 riders in 2000 to 20,000 riders in 2009!

On Bike to Work Day there will be commute stations to provide rider treats. Visit the Cascade website for a map of commute stations (including one at 34th & Northlake Way, right by Solsticio Cafe), or call 206-522-3222 for details.

New to Bike Commuting? No problem! Get started with an Intro to Bike Commute class.

Bike to Work Month is sponsored by the Cascade Bicycle Club.  See you on the trails and in the bike lanes!
