Neighborhood Roundup

Here at Wallyhood, we like to be in the know & presume you do, too.  Check out some of the things you can read more about on neighbor blogs:

  • Prep for Solstice.  Fremonsters cleaned up the Power House Saturday, and you know what that means… time to keep an eye out for all those preparatory workshops & other events to support and prepare for the Solstice Parade, which also happens to fall on Juneteenth this year.  Keep an eye on the Arts Council’s calendar here in the weeks to come.
  • My Greenlake announces Mykonos Greek Grill is on its way to Green Lake.
  • Eastlake Ave. blog reports the P-patch expansion is almost done!  Yay green thumbs!
  • PhinneyWood says the TapRoot Theater wants to know how far you’ve gone for love.  That’s right, how far did YOU go?  Submit your romantic tale to TapRoot’s blog here.
  • Publicola covered this week’s release of a video showing SPD officers assaulting an innocent man and hurling racial epithets at him.
  • Seattlest is getting psyched about the Seattle International Film Festival with a preview trailer of American: The Bill Hicks Story.
  • Capitol Hill Seattle blog tells us about the 5th annual celebration of transgender filmmaking with Translations: the Seattle Transgender Film Festival, opening May 13th on the hill.  Nice.

Chris Witwer

Chris S. Witwer likes to call herself Wallyhood’s “Lower Wallingford Correspondent.” Chris is a former Texan (is there any such thing?) who came to Seattle in 2005 for three reasons: weather, scenery, and coffee culture. It has taken her four years to begin to understand Seattle humor, but she’s getting there. Chris is a bureaucrat by day, and caffeine-fueled blogger when she’s not reading novels or pretending to write one. She lives with her partner, Laura, and two cats — Dolce and Molly, and uses the internet to make fun of stuff on her personal blog, http://felsputzer.wordpress.com.
