Urban Assault Ride 2010

The Urban Assault Ride (bikes, that is) will wend its way through Wallingford on Sunday, May 16th.  If you’re not familiar,  UAR is fast-growing event that started in Austin, Texas.  This year’s Seattle ride benefits Bikeworks Seattle, a non-profit whose mission is to build sustainability by promoting bicycling & by educating young people.

The ride works like this: teams of two set out to hit various checkpoints throughout the city, in any order you wish.  At each checkpoint riders dismount, complete a fun/adventurous obstacle course (which could involve Big Wheels, Slip N Slides, kayaks, puzzles, etc), remount, and head on to the next checkpoint.  Strategy is key — choose the best route & beat everyone else to the finish line.  And of course, thanks to FreeRange Cycles, there’s beer in Fremont at the end of the ride…

Checkpoints:

Register and get the full details (including time-saving clues/info) here.  Registration is $60 per person & includes a t-shirt, schwag bag, New Belgium beer, raffle tickets, etc.  After registering, both team members must pick up registration packets at the Wallingford Tutta Bella (4441 Stone Way North) on SATURDAY only, from 11-2.

Happy Urban Assault!
