“What Would You Say?” to free Dave Matthews tickets?

  • Post author:

That’s right, we hold in our hot and sweaty little hands a pair of Dave Matthews Band general admission tickets at the Gorge Amphitheatre this Sunday, September 5, at 6 p.m.

If you’re interested in going, all ya gotta do is tell us what Dave Matthews Band song or lyric best represents Wallingford and why. Post your entry in the comments section here, or to the Wall on the Wallyhood Facebook Page, and you’ll be entered in our random drawing.

We’ll announce the winner on Friday morning, so have fun with this and enjoy! This is one of the best concerts over Labor Day Weekend.

The Rules:
1. Limit one entry per person in the comments section below and on the Wallyhood Facebook Wall. (Yep, the savvy contestant can double their chances of winning by entering once in both places!)
2. Winner will pick up the tickets here in Wallingford (location and time tbd)
3. Tickets are General Admission, and do not include parking

I think these lyrics from the song “One Sweet World” represent Wallingford. It’s all about how Earth is our home and it’s a special place where we can “rest safely” – I feel the same way about our neighborhood!

    Nine planets round the sun
Only one does the sun embrace
    Upon this watered one
So much we take for granted
So let us sleep outside tonight
Lay down in our mother’s arms
For here we can rest safely

    Ah yes….

“Celebrate we will, for life is short but sweet for certain.”

This lyric sums up pretty much every summer day in Wallingford–all of the festivals, the cheery atmosphere at Farmer’s markets, the exuberance of family trips to Gas Works.

“Crash into me” referring to the recent golden oldies incident 🙂

  4. Greg

“Lying in the park on a beautiful day
Sunshine in the grass, and the children play
    Siren’s passing, fire engine red
Someone’s house is burning down on a day like this”

From ‘Funny the Way It Is’

    Two reasons:
    1) Hey, could be Meridian Park, ya know what I’m saying?
    2) Wallingford is full of paradox…in remarkable ways. Established families living next to college students. A remarkable down-home feeling, with city crime issues.
Really, it’s funny when you think about it!

In the spirit of the neighborhood love:

I will give you water, if you will share your wine.
I will feed your heart, if you promise to feed mine.
And there we’ll dance together til the end of time.”

Turns out not where but who you’re with
    That really matters

(from the best of what’s around)

I love wandering up and down the streets of Wallingford with my guy and always seeing lots of friendly faces in their yards, in line at Molly Moon’s, or playing at the park. The people in Wallingford really make it what it is.

    Come and relax now
    Put your troubles down
No need to bear the weight of your worries
Just let them all fall away.

    from Patala Naga Pampa
Wallingford is such a welcoming, relaxed community.

  8. DOUG.

To the hippies in Gasworks Park:
“Hike up your skirt a little more / And show your world to me.”

  9. Cameron

    See you and me
Have a better time than most can dream
Have it better than the best
So we can pull on through
    -Best of What’s Around

Living in Wallingford makes us the luckiest fools in Seattle…and really, the world.

Makes us wanna stay stay stay stay stay for awhile!

  12. Katie

The chorus of “Typical SItuation” is perfect for Wallingford!

    Everybody’s happy
    Everybody’s free
We’ll keep the big door open
    And everyone’ll come around

  13. Daniel

“I have no lid upon my head but if I did you could look inside and see what’s on my mind” (it’s Wallingford)
    From “Let You Down”

  14. Isla Jo

    “Dive In”
A side of Wallingford that some might ignore…I think this song is about taking initiative.

“I saw a man on the side of the road
with a sign that said ‘Will Work For Food”
I tried to look busy ’til the light turned green”

    and the chorus:
“Wake up sleepy head I think the suns a little brighter today
Smile and watch the icicles melt away and see the waters rising
Summer’s here to stay and that summer breeze will blow forever
Go down to the shore, kick off your shoes
    Dive in the empty ocean

We are convincing ourselves that everything will be fine. Dave is saying, wake up!

  15. Maria

“A little taste of the good life, whether right or wrong, makes us want to stay, stay, stay, stay, stay for while!”

Wallingford is the greatest neighborhood around!

  16. Shannon

    “Come away to something better
What I want is what I’ve not got
But what I need is all around me.”

Reminds me that we have so many great service providers right here in Wallingford…no need to go elsewhere!
