Reminder: Seattle Night Out Tonight

Tonight, August 3rd, Seattle will join other cities across the nation in a “night out against crime.”  The Seattle Night Out is intended to:

  • Heighten crime and drug prevention awareness
  • Generate support for & participate in local anti-crime programs
  • Strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
  • Send a message to the bad guys that neighborhood are organized and fighting back.

It’s also a great chance to celebrate the Wallingford community.  If your block isn’t hosting a block party this year, you can still participate by getting out there and meeting your neighbors.

As Wallyhood described it last year, “Of course, you don’t need to do anything special to celebrate, just go outside and talk to your neighbors. Heck, do it right now.”

Side effects may include: food, fun, laughter, newly-formed friendships. Some streets may be closed to automobiles, but not to foot traffic.

I’ll be out tonight! Trying to see the aurora that might be in the sky this evening around 10:30 PM!

Had no idea this was happening! Saw a bunch of people celebrating/gating down the street and figured my family wasn’t invited because people had gone around the neighborhood promoting/inviting only to certain people, not us. Oh well. Wallingford can be pretty snobby in my opinion! But this was a great idea anyway!

    Hey oops,
Block parties are as fun as their participants. Instead of dogging on your snobby neighbors from your computer, try getting out there and talking to them. I am sure they would have loved to meet you.
