Weekend Roundup

I scream, you scream, we all scream for weekends! Oh, that’s not how the saying goes, is it?  Ah well. Here’s what’s up in and around the ‘hood:

FRIDAY

  • Dia de los Muertos Celebration at the Phinney Neighborhood Association, 6532 Phinney Ave N.  Parade starts at 6:30, main program starts at 7:15.  C’mon, I know you haven’t hard your fill of parades OR costumes yet this year.  Learn all about it here.

SATURDAY

  • Solo Travelers @ World Wide Books.  Saturday at 9am.  4411 Wallingford Ave N. An informal gathering of travelers who meet and learn from each other.  Call 206-634-3453.
  • Green Seattle Burke Cleanup. Saturday 10am – 2pm.  Join the Burke-Gilman Trail Fruit Tree Stewards who will begin maintaining the apple trees along the Trail in Wallingford.  Bring your favorite tools and gloves! Meet on the Burke-Gilman Trail just west of I-5 near 495 NE Pacific Street. For more info, contact  barb (at) raaen.com or call 206-818-4857.
  • Casino Royale. 7pm-10pm at the Greenwood Senior Center,at 525 N. 85th St. A raucous evening of that most innocent of pastimes: Gambling!  $25 ($50 for “high rollers”).  Cover includes hors d’oeuvres and a stack of chips to get you started. Expect “Vegas-style dealers, a piano bar, and a cocktail lounge featuring a Martini Luge.”
  • Rain Modern Infusion Cuisine (2208 N. 45th St.) celebrates their 6th anniversary with live music, food and drink specials.  10pm.  Congrats, Rain!  Wallyhood will have more details soon.

SUNDAY

  • GraceFeast at Gift of Grace Lutheran Church. 2102 N. 40th St. Every Sunday at Noon.  Learn more here.
  • Seattle Festival Orchestra plays Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, 3pm at University Prep’s Founder’s Hall (8000 25th Ave NE).
