Weekend Roundup

We’re not snowed in yet!  Here are a few things you can do in the ‘hood this weekend before we get trapped indoors:

THU. 11/18, 8 PM Composers Neal Kosaly-Meyer, Keith Eisenbrey, Aaron Keyt (aka, Banned Rehearsal) present recent music for piano and electronics.  Good Shepherd Center, $5 – $15 suggested at the door.  Learn more here.

FRI. 11/19, 5:30 PM Sustainable Wallingford’s Community Kitchen Holiday Celebration at the Good Shepherd Center (4649 Sunnyside Ave N).  RSVP here, or more info here.

FRI. 11/19, 7 PM – Inaugural meeting of the Pacific NW Chapter of the American Society for Acoustic Ecology (all interested parties are welcome!) + live performance by Seattle Phonographers UnionGood Shepherd Center. Deets here.

SAT. 11/20, 10 a.m. – 3 PM – St. Benedict Parish Faith Formation is sponsoring “Uncommon Gifts” Fair Trade Sale in St. Benedict School auditorium, entrance 4811 Wallingford Avenue North.  Sale includes recycled material purses from the Tijuana, and Bead for Life jewelry, made by women in Uganda.  Fair Trade gifts include household items, jewelry, scarves,  baskets, Christmas ornaments and nativity sets, chocolate, coffee and teas.  In addition Advent  wreaths, candles and calendars and bibles will be available for purchase.  For information contact the Val Keller at St. Benedict Parish Office 206-632-0843.

SAT. 11/20, Noon – 4 PM – The Keystone Festival of Hope, An Alternative Holiday Fair.  All proceeds go to programs that relieve poverty, hunger and homelessness, locally and world-wide. The festival will offer Third World and Local Handcrafts, Gifts, and Decorations as well as Books, Baked Goods and Deli lunch at Keystone Church, located at 5019 Keystone Pl. N.

SAT. 11/20, 8 PM – Seattle composer S. Eric Scribner  plays piano and percussion on pieces from his StormSound Cycle series of graphic scores with prerecorded sound, with Beth Fleenor (clarinet) and Bruce Greeley (bass clarinet).  $5 – $15 suggested at the door.  Also at the Good Shepherd Center.  More info available here.

SUN.  11/21, 9 AM- 2 PM -St. Benedict Parish Faith Formation’s “Uncommon Gifts” Fair Trade Sale continues in St. Benedict School auditorium, entrance 4811 Wallingford Avenue North.

SUN.  11/21, 11:30 AM – 7th Annual Harvest Dinner at the Seattle First Church of the Nazarene. 10 AM service precedes the Thanksgiving meal.  Also, food and clothing donations can be dropped off at Mosaic Community Coffee House.  Read all about it here.
