Holiday eats in Wallingford (what’s open, what’s not)

A post in the Wallyhood Forums from reader Scarebaby prompted us to do some call-downs and find out which restaurants in Wallingford will be open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day (don’t worry, we’ll do the same for New Years!).  Some restaurants open on Christmas Eve may have shorter hours, so you may wanna check out those we’ve listed below.  If you choose something more than a quick casual spot, reservations are highly recommended.  Here’s the scoop:

Open Christmas Eve

Julia’s (7AM-3PM)
Ivar’s Salmon House (11AM-8:15PM, lounge to 9PM)
Jhanjay Vegetarian Thai Cuisine (11AM-10PM)
Eva Restaurant (5PM-8:30PM)
Chutney’s Bistro (11AM-10PM)
May (11:30AM-2AM)
RoRo’s (11AM-6PM)
Elysian Tangletown (11:30AM-3PM)
Kozue (11:30AM-10PM)
Djan’s (11AM-10PM)
Joule (5PM-10PM)
Dick’s Drive-in (10:30AM-6PM)
The Golden Olive (11AM-4PM)
Murphy’s Pub (12PM-2AM)
Moon Temple (4PM- 11PM, bar closes at 1AM)
Bamboo Village (10:30AM-10PM)
Kisaku (5PM-10PM)
Varsity Inn Restaurant (7AM-1PM)
Tilth (5PM-10:30PM)
Rusty Pelican Cafe (8AM-3PM)
Gypsy Java Cafe (9AM-3PM)
Teriyaki King (9AM – 7:30PM)
Blue Star Pub and Cafe (7AM-3PM)
Pudge Brothers Pizza (11AM- 7 or 8PM depending on traffic)
Essential Baking (6AM-5PM)
Diggity Dog Hot Dog and Sausage Co. (11AM-8PM)
The Iron Bull (6PM-2AM)
Satay (11:30AM-2PM)

Open Christmas Day

Julia’s (9AM-3PM)
Chutney’s Bistro (11AM-10PM)
May (11:30AM-2AM)
Murphy’s Pub (12PM-2AM)
Moon Temple (4PM-10PM, bar closes at 2AM)
Bamboo Village (10:30AM-10PM)
The Iron Bull (6PM-2AM)

And Ffej tells us that Brad’s Swingside Cafe (4212 Fremont Avenue N. — yeah, in Fremont, but by gosh we’ll make an exception since it’s Christmas) is open Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from 5PM-9PM.  Call 206-633-4057 for reservations.

And, just for the record, these are the restaurants closed for both days:
Bizarro Italian Cafe, Art of the Table, Kabul, Tutta Bella, Selena’s Guadalajara, Sutra Restaurant, Elemental, Cantinetta, Smash Wine Bar and Bistro, Wallingford Pizza House, Rain Modern Infusion Cuisine

    BTW, a couple to add to your list:

    – Satay will be open until 2 PM on Christmas Eve.
    – In nearby Fremont, Brad’s Swingside Cafe will be open 5 – 9 (but they are taking reservations, just for this evening.)

    PS — to clarify: Swingside will be open on Christmas Eve at the hours posted above. (As you can see, I’m not a journalist, nor do I play one on TV.)
