Shelob’s Ribbon Cutting

  • Post author:

The long wait is over. Back in June, we posed a question in photos. In November, we let you know the answer, and that progress was being made. Now, it’s January, and we’ve arrived at the grand unveiling. Lucie Campbell wrote to let us know that tomorrow morning, Tuesday January 18th at 9:30 am, the John Stanford International School is hosting a brief ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate their new playground renovations (see before and after below). “The Wallingford Community has been very supportive of our project and we would like to extend our gratitude,” she says.

“The project was funded in part by a Neighborhood Matching Fund award from Seattle Department of Neighborhoods.  Our neighborhood kids should have an exciting time tackling the new net climbing pyramid.”

As a next-door neighbor to the JSIS with a two year-old who has become somewhat tired of the existing jungle gym, we are quite excited.

I started Wallyhood back in 2008, right when my son was born, because I realized I had lived in the neighborhood since 1993 and didn't really know my neighbors. I figured writing a blog about what was going on around me would be a good way to meet people and help other people do the same. As the years progressed, those neighbors have picked up the torch and it is now a group effort, which I adore. I moved out of Wallingford for a few years (2020 - 2025), but I'm back, now living with my wife, son and dog (Dillinger) up in Tangletown.
