Community Kitchen Celebrates Earth

The theme for next Friday’s Wallingford Community Kitchen is “Recipes from Around the World”, in honor of Earth Day.  Join Rachel Duboff and company for a fun-filled evening of preparing and eating tasty food, and socializing with your neighbors at the Wallingford Community Senior Center (Basement of the Good Shepherd – 4649 Sunnyside Avenue N.)  The fun starts at 5:30pm and generally lasts until 9pm.  Here’s what’s on the menu for next Friday, April 22:
  • Vietnamese Spring Rolls with Dipping Sauce
  • Pastitsio from Greece (a Greek Lasagna), using turkey instead of traditional lamb
  • Bean and Sweet Potato Soup from Africa
  • Matzoh Ball Soup (vegetarian style)
If you’ve never been to a Community Kitchen event, here’s the skinny: come by 5:30 pm with an appetizer, dessert, or drinks to share (no bread, please, since they receive bread from donations). Register by 5pm on April 20, for $9.99 through Brown Paper Tickets: (https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/163811), or pay $25 at the door. They ask that even if you pay at the door, you email the coordinator ahead of time so they have a fairly accurate count for dinner. See more details and RSVP on Sustainable Wallingford’s Facebook page.
