Here are a few things happening in the neighborhood this weekend:

Parents’ Night Out, Saturday, December 15

Ready for a meal at a restaurant that doesn’t serve corndogs and pizza?  A film that doesn’t star talking animals? Maybe even a relaxing evening at home, sans children? Firefly Tutoring Parents’ Night Out to the rescue!

Where:        Firefly Tutoring, 3644 Wallingford Ave N. (Map)

When:         Saturday, December 15th, 6:00 PM to Midnight

Activities:   Crafts, face-painting, games, and a movie
(one for the older kids, one for the younger kids, in separate rooms)

Food:          Pizza and snacks

Ages:          4-12

Cost:           $35 ($30 each additional sibling)

Kids are welcome to show up in their PJs to make the transition home go smoothly. We’ll even make
sure they brush their teeth before pick up if you remember to bring the toothbrush!

A Collective Open House for Fremont Midwifery at Wallingford, Aditi Yoga & Bodywork, and Elena S. Blair Photography, Saturday, December 15, 2:30pm

Location: Aditi Yoga Studio 4206 Stone Way N Seattle, WA 98103 — 206.428.6004 (Map)

This event is, in part, to benefit the Edna Adan Maternity Hospital in Somaliland. This hospital was featured in the PBS documentary “Half the Sky”. We’ll be showing an abbreviated form of Half the Sky at 2:30.

There will be a raffle to benefit the hospital, and to purchase supplies they have requested. Geraldine Lee from Fremont Midwifery will be headed to the hospital in mid-January as a volunteer midwife, training student midwives as well as attending deliveries, for 5 weeks. She’ll be keeping a blog while she’s there.

Fun activities for Aditi Yoga & Bodywork as well as Elena S. Blair Photography will begin around 4:00pm.

What a great idea. I hope they have another one – my youngest will be four in the spring.
