Sing your heart out, Wallingford

Battle Of The Choir 1
Hegelund and choir perform in Sweden’s “Battle of the Choirs”

Singers young and old, experienced, or just starting out – here’s your chance to put those musical pipes to use. Dan Hegelund, an internationally renowned choir director from Sweden, is starting four new choirs in Wallingford called Common Ground Gospel. One group is for kids, ages 10 to 15; one for youth, ages 15 to 25; one for adults; and he also wants to build a professional performance choir for talented singers.

His choirs are well known in Europe, where Dan has performed on big stages such as the Presidential Palace of Ukraine, before the Latvian government, as instructor at Copenhagen and Krakow Gospel Festivals, and a participant in Battle of the Choirs (TV4, Sweden). Dan and his family are relocating to Seattle from Sweden, and he’s got big plans for creating choirs here, featuring contemporary, modern-style music that kids will actually enjoy singing.

“All I ask”, says Dan, “is for parents to give it a try. With our contemporary, modern style, your kids are bound to love it.”

Rehearsals will take place on Thursdays in the CMA Gallery and Performance Space in Wallingford (4501 Interlake Ave N #9), with the first session beginning next Thursday, March 7. Specific times for each age group are listed here.
