Woodland Park Zoo (5500 Phinney Ave. N. Map of location) is hosting an open house this Thursday, February 28, from 5:00pm – 7:00pm to kick-off its “Inner North Parking Lot Reconfiguration and Expansion Project.” The plans call for and additional 165 parking spaces in the zoo’s North Parking Lot, demolishing two storage sheds, and moving the portable trailers that house the zoo’s administrative offices.

The zoo says this expansion will also serve to create better pedestrian connections between the North Parking Lot and the West Entrance Plaza. You can view the plans during the Open House in the zoo’s ARC building, where zoo staff members will also be on hand to answer questions.

For more information on the open house visit http://www.zoo.org/neighbors. For comments or questions, email the zoo: [email protected]

Does this open house mean we can enter the zoo with no charge or that we can see the parking lot plans??

Now if the zoo would just agree to re-home elephants to much needed sanctuary…I care less about their parking lot plans than their confinement of 3 elephants who are unhappy and unhealthy and desperately need to retire from being “exhibits” at the zoo.
Recent articles in Seattle Times clearly described zoo elephant misery. There is no excuse to keep these intelligent and emotionally sophistaicated animals in confinement.
