Moored in Tangletown

Tangletown resident, Gina, snapped this pic of a boat moored on the traffic circle on Kenwood at Woodlawn.

If you look closely, you’ll see an orange “vehicle violation” sticker on the windshield. KIRO News posted a picture of the sticker up close, which you can see here. The Seattle Police officer who issued the sticker wrote “Really?” under “Remarks” on the sticker.

KIRO also notes that “The Seattle Police Department gave the vessel a vacate notice, ordering it be removed by 9 a.m. Saturday, but the boat was still there on Friday afternoon.” I drove past the traffic circle on Saturday at noon, and the boat was still there.

I guess SPD will have to call for a boat tow!

    There used to be a cow (not real) on that traffic circle. We love these varying pieces of what I consider fun art. We drive by this traffic circle every day. Better take a walk soon too to try out the boat (my 4-yr old has been begging) before it gets removed.

    You sure it didn’t float up there from Greenlake after yesterday’s thunder storm?

    Nice to see someone in traffic enforcement has a sense of humor. IMHO Wallingford rd has at lead one of the least hospitable, downright mean, parking enforcement persons in the city

    It’s unfortunate that parking enforcement is needed at all in Wallingford–for that matter, throughout Seattle–but apparently it is. {I believe we’ve seen a fair amount of commentary on that subject; e.g., the disregard for bus zones and driveways, the parking in front of fire hydrants, and so forth.}

    The one time I parked my car improperly in a loading zone in Wallingford, I totally deserved the ticket I was given. The enforcement person was firm about the violation, while also courteous and friendly.

    Is it possible that there is an enforcement officer that is “the least hospitable”? I suppose so, and I’m sorry if that has been your experience. Still, and so long as we have inconsiderate vehicle operators, I am glad parking enforcement is out there doing their job.

    It’s tied to the pole like a real boat and it has a paper mache guy inside. It’s gotta be the same people that did that awesome cow.

    I wonder if this is by the same artist as the golden human figures which appeared at Gasworks a few years ago.

    I’m all for fun art! Too bad the police can’t seem to recognize random acts of art when they see them. At the traffic circle at N 49th and Woodland Park Ave, a colorfully decorated mailbox has recently appeared amongst the plants, with the red flag up no less. Hopefully the post office won’t have time to complain. I’ll snap a picture the next time I walk past.

    Maybe the cop was just playing along. I doubt they expect the ticket to be paid.

    nope, not art, sorry. i’m sure someone thinks they are very clever for doing this, but its not artistic in the least.

    “oooh we are so wacky!!!”

    I’ve never felt so at home with all you Rednecks of Wallingford.
