The Stranger: The food here sucks. The people are nice enough, and the place is kinda cool inside, but seriously, they need to work on the food....
Urban Spoon: Delightful dining experience. The staff and owner was so friendly, and the food and wine were delicious...

Wow. The bad reviews on the Stranger website are written by people who have NO idea about authentic Italian cuisine. This place is about as authentic as it gets in terms of taste, service and friendliness.

I read the reviews from the Stranger and wondered if we went to the same restaurant! I’ve been to the Perche No a number of times and have enjoyed almost every meal. Matthew, the bartender makes great martinis (winter) and mojitos (summer) A summer standby was to have a mojito and a bowl of mussels, yummm. Their portobello ravioli is delish. The only thing I haven’t loved was the yak sausage; too much inexpensive black pepper in it. But everything else has been excellent. No, they are not a cheap meal. But the clam/mussels appetizer was reasonable and if I have that, I’m good. We have so many mediocre restaurants in Wallingford, that I’m glad they are here!

I was just there and the food was wonderful. I had a salad that was wonderfully fresh (lettuce and herbs picked out of their herb garden on the roof), and the raspberry-chocolate dessert that I had was to die for. We had great service, good food, good wine, and good weather to sit outside – what more can you ask for?
