Tonight is Science Night at Hamilton

Hamilton International Middle School (1610 N. 41st. Street) will host its second annual Science Night tonight, from 6:30-8:30 pm.  It's a wonderful opportunity for students and families (even those outside of the Hamilton community) to look at some pretty cool hands-on exhibits. McDonald Elementary goes international. Take the survey.

Last Thursday, Seattle Public Schools International Education specialist Karen Kodama presented families with next steps to rolling out an international curriculum for McDonald Elementary.  If funds are allocated by the district next month, the immersion component of the program will begin in Fall 2011, with incoming Kindergarten students and children entering first grade learning either Japanese or Spanish.  In 2012, other components of Seattle Public Schools' International Education curriculum will follow suit, providing students with a broad global perspective.  You can…

Farmers Market

We're not quite sure what it says about Wallingford that the biggest kerfuffle we've got going is on whether and where to put a Farmers Market. Nice, ya know? Some places, everyone's up in each other's grill about abortion rights, immigration, health care and gun control, but in Wallingford, it's radicchio and rutabaga that gets everyone hot under the collar. The whole Buffy the Vampire Slayer craze has always puzzled us a bit, but this is a point on which we are clearly in the minority. Apparently, January 19th or thereabouts is Buffy's birthday, as celebrated in the January 19th or thereabouts episode each year.
